Meet the New King: Bitaxe Gamma 601 V2

There’s a new king in town, and its name is the Bitaxe Gamma 601 V2.

At first glance, the Bitaxe Gamma 601 V2 might look familiar, but don’t let that fool you. Under the hood, this little miner packs better cooling, higher hashrate out of the box, lower noise, and, here’s the real kicker, half the price of its predecessor.

Coming in at just $95, the V2 doesn’t just improve on the V1… it kind of embarrasses it. Let’s break down the differences and see why the V2 is such a big deal.

Checkout this hands on video comparing both units!

Size: Same Form Factor, Zero Hassle

Good news right out of the gate:

The Bitaxe Gamma 601 V1 and V2 are exactly the same size.

Why does this matter?

Because the V2 fits perfectly into any existing Bitaxe Gamma 601 case. If you already have a custom enclosure, rear fan mod, or 3D-printed case, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Just drop the V2 in and you’re good to go.

This also means all the community mods that already exist continue to work, huge win for tinkerers.

Noise: Finally, Some Peace and Quiet

Let’s be honest:

Some Bitaxe units are loud. Those tiny fans need to spin at insanely high RPMs to keep temperatures in check, and it gets annoying fast.

The Gamma 601 V2 fixes this problem properly.

Instead of the cheaper generic coolers found on many small miners, the V2 uses a tower-style heatsink with heatpipes. This design dissipates heat far more efficiently than a simple slab of aluminum.

The result?

  • Lower fan RPMs
  • Less noise
  • Better cooling
  • And higher hashrate at the same time

Quiet and faster is a rare combo, and the V2 pulls it off.

Hashrate: Small Numbers, Big Difference

On paper, the hashrate bump might not look massive, but in solo mining, every bit counts.

Bitaxe Gamma 601 V1

  • Hashrate: 1.2 TH/s
  • Chance to hit a BTC block per day: 1 in 5.6 million
  • Chance to hit a BCH block per day: 1 in 39,000

Bitaxe Gamma 601 V2

  • Hashrate: 1.5 TH/s
  • Chance to hit a BTC block per day: 1 in 4.5 million
  • Chance to hit a BCH block per day: 1 in 31,000

That works out to roughly a 25% increase in your odds of hitting a solo block.

You can calculate your odds here(They change every couple minutes!)

And remember, this is coming from a unit that costs half as much as the V1 did. That’s huge.

Overclocking Potential: Even More Headroom

If you like to push hardware to its limits, both versions of the Gamma deliver, but again, the V2 takes the lead.

From real-world testing:

  • V1 overclocked: ~1.76 TH/s
  • V2 overclocked: ~2.0 TH/s

And that’s without any hardware modifications, running on the stock power supply.

With a higher-quality PSU and some tuning, there’s a good chance both could be pushed even further, but the improved cooling on the V2 clearly gives it the advantage.

Final Verdict: V2 Is the Easy Winner

The Bitaxe Gamma 601 V2 checks all the right boxes:

  • ✅ Better cooling with tower heatsink + heatpipes
  • ✅ Higher hashrate out of the box
  • ✅ Quieter operation
  • ✅ Same size and mod compatibility
  • ✅ ~25% better solo mining odds
  • Half the cost of the V1

For $95, it’s hard to argue against it. Whether you’re new to solo mining or upgrading from a V1, the Gamma 601 V2 isn’t just an upgrade, it’s the new baseline.

Long live the new king. 👑

Why are the V1’s still selling for $184/USD???
I think $65 or $70 would be fair. You are just giving them away in bundles.
