The Magic Miner 40T is a 40 TH/s desktop Bitcoin miner in a brushed metal tower, built around 30 BM1370 chips, with the power supply inside the case, Gigabit Ethernet, and Harlo OS on board. JD at Harlo Labs calls it the Magic Miner HQ01, which is the maker's model name. Same unit. It costs $799, and Batch 3 opens Friday September 18 at 12:00 ET with 50 units.
It is for people who want the most hashrate per dollar they can put in a home, in a box that looks like it belongs there. Set and forget owners pick a mode and leave it. Tinkerers get clock, voltage and fan dials. Either way you are buying a lottery ticket: every terahash is a shot at a full block paid to your own address, not a paycheck.
JD tested a development unit that is, in his words, the consumer version apart from extra USB ports on the back, with a wall meter, a dB meter and a tape measure on camera. His readings sit next to the spec sheet below.
Three modes, and what the wall meter said
The unit ships in Standard. Eco and Turbo are presets you pick in Harlo OS, with a warning before Turbo unlocks.

The honest read: 40 TH/s is real and slightly conservative at the wall, Eco lands under its rating, and Turbo is there if you can live with the fans. At $799 that is $19.98 per TH in Standard and $15.98 in Turbo, at about 16 to 17 J/TH.
Size and noise, with a tape and a meter
JD's tape put it at 13 inches tall, 6.5 wide and 7.5 deep, which is 33 x 16.5 x 19 cm, much smaller than the factory prototype shown earlier this year. Brushed metal, a flat top plate, a small colour display, and no RGB anywhere.
Noise depends on the mode. In Eco with the fans near 30% his meter read about 50 dB. At Standard with the fans at 70% it read 72 dB, though he never found the lowest fan speed that keeps 40 TH/s cool, so there is likely room below that. In Turbo the fans run flat out at roughly 80 dB. The big fans give a low hum rather than a whine, which is why JD, next to a Harlo B30 and a KBOX, called the 40T the quieter of the three at the settings he ran.
Harlo OS, and what it adds to the box
The 40T ships with Harlo OS built in, with free updates. On this unit that means the three presets, manual clock, voltage and fan control past them, and quad mining: JD split it three ways on camera, 10 TH/s to Bitcoin, 10 to Bitcoin Cash and 10 to a third pool, which the stock firmware cannot do.

FAQ
Is the Magic Miner HQ01 the same unit as the Magic Miner 40T?
Yes. HQ01 is the maker's model name, the one JD uses in the Harlo Labs review. HeliumDeploy sells it as the Magic Miner 40T. Same tower, same 30 BM1370 chips, same three modes.
What power does it need?
A normal wall outlet, 100 to 240 V. The 94% power supply is built in with an IEC C14 inlet, so one cord and no brick. Budget 450 W in Eco, 650 W in Standard and 850 W in Turbo; JD's wall meter read 430 to 460 W in Eco and 690 W at 41.4 TH/s.
How loud is it?
About 50 dB in Eco with the fans near 30%. At Standard with the fans at 70% JD's meter read 72 dB. Turbo runs the fans at 100% and is loud, around 80 dB. The two 120 mm fans give a low hum rather than a whine.
Do I need my own node, or can I use a pool?
Either. Point it at your own node and mine solo for the full block reward, or at any pool. Harlo OS can also split the hashrate across up to four pools at once.
Can I cancel and get a refund?

Are the fans user replaceable?
Two 120 mm fans sit behind the front grille. We are confirming with the maker whether they are user replaceable and whether a dust filter is planned, and will update this page when we have the answer.
