Straight answers

What you're actually buying

  • It is not the cheapest hashrate we sell At $800 for 22 TH/s the KBOX is about $36 per terahash. The Magic Miner 40T is $16. What you pay the difference for is a finished, quiet, safe appliance with the power supply and controller already in it, made in America. If raw terahash per dollar is the only thing you care about, buy the 40T instead and we will still be happy.
  • It is a heater as much as a miner Roughly 330W of electricity goes in and roughly 330W of heat comes out, into whatever room it is in. That is a real space heater. In winter it is the best argument for the machine. In August, in a small room, it is something to plan around.
  • Mining is a lottery in solo mode Point it at a pool and it pays steadily and small. Run it solo and it pays in whole blocks or not at all. 22 TH/s gives you a real, recurring shot. It does not guarantee one.
  • Difficulty and price move Bitcoin difficulty and price both affect what this earns. We publish honest expectations and never quote you an ROI.

Questions people ask

How loud is it, really?

Altair put a meter on one on camera and got 38 to 47 dB depending on the preset, which is somewhere between a quiet room and a fridge. It is speed controlled fans in a fully enclosed case, not a datacentre blade. The Low preset is the quiet one; High is the loud one, and loud here still means you can hold a conversation next to it.

How much power does it pull, and do I need a special outlet?

About 330W at the wall on the High preset, less on Medium and Low. That is an ordinary wall socket on a normal cord. It takes 120 or 240VAC, so it runs anywhere in the world without a converter. No dedicated circuit, no proprietary brick.

Do I have to buy a power supply or a controller?

No. A 93% efficient Meanwell power supply and an integrated Linux controller are already inside the case, along with WiFi, Ethernet, the fans and the display. The box on your doorstep is the whole machine plus a power cord.

Will it actually heat a room?

Yes, and that is deliberate. Essentially all 330W ends up as heat in the room, the same as any electric heater of that size. GekkoScience call it a hash heater for a reason, and the RGB has an Embers and a Woodstove mode to lean into it.

Do I need my own Bitcoin node?

No. Point it at your own node, at an open solo pool, or at a regular pool for steadier payouts. Either way the payout address is yours.

What if I change my mind?

Refunds are allowed, always. You get a full refund any time before your unit ships, no questions asked, and exchanges are allowed too. Once it has shipped, the standard 30 day warranty and returns policy applies.

Where does it ship, and when?

Worldwide, at the end of August. It runs on 120 or 240VAC so there is no region-locked variant to get wrong, and we ship with the cord matched to your address. If that date moves we post it here and email you.
