Wayru

Wayru is a Blockchain-based Wireless Internet Network that provides seamless and effortless WiFi connectivity worldwide. Our solution brings mid-small ISPs, entrepreneurs, individuals, and communities together to build and operate Internet networks. A core element of the Wayru network is distributed ownership. We believe that ownership of internet infrastructures should be in the hands of as many people as possible.

Wayru operates as a decentralized Internet network using community-operated Hotspots. The community participates by deploying Hotspots anywhere, preferably where connectivity is most needed, with all participants rewarded for providing Internet access. There are three (3) ways to deploy infrastructure: -You can become a Hotspot Operator by purchasing a Wayru WiFi miner. -Turn any compatible router into a Wayru BYOD WiFi miner with our WayruOS firmware. -Turn a Passpoint-compatible device into a Wayru DON (Data-Only Node) WiFi miner. Place your miner in homes, coffee shops, salons, fitness centers, and more, and earn rewards for uptime and user connections. Telcos will be charged for offloading data for their subscribers onto Wayru’s community-deployed hotspots, offering a cheaper alternative to network expansion. All participants are rewarded: operators for providing internet access and users for maintaining network health by validating networks and performing daily check-ins through the app.

In today’s hyper-connected world, centralized telcos' efforts to provide internet access to everyone on the planet have become unsustainable. This results in expensive, low-quality services or an absolute absence of connectivity. High infra deployment and overhead costs are huge problems for telcos when scaling their businesses. Current network operators cannot cope with the rising demand without significant investment, leading to congestion and degraded service quality, particularly in densely populated areas. The cost for smaller players is too high to compete with bigger players. Wayru envisions a world where internet connectivity is seamless, affordable, and accessible to all. By integrating existing WiFi networks into a cohesive global network, Wayru will enable users to move freely between hotspots without needing multiple subscriptions or complex login procedures. This approach optimizes the use of existing resources and democratizes internet access, breaking down barriers and connecting communities.
